Heart Lung Centre
The Heart Lung Centre Ltd is an independent specialist clinical trials unit. The centre carries out a wide range of activities in clinical trials for asthma, allergy and COPD.
Clinical trial activities include:
• Lung function measurements (full service available)
• Phase 1-2 studies on site
• Larger studies performed in collaboration with
RCT services
• Inhaled challenge tests using a variety of agents
for asthma.

• Nasal challenge studies in allergic rhinitis as surrogate markers of inflammation
• Bronchoscopy studies
• Measurement of novel biomarkers & surrogate markers; induced sputum for markers of inflammation,
exhaled breath analysis, flow cytometry of blood and sputum samples, multiple chemokine & cytokine
measurements in bodily fluids with picomolar sensitivity.
• Multi-Slice CT; PET/CT; MRI & Ultrasound and imaging facilities
The Centre has also established cardiac rehabilitation / secondary prevention centre for patients in the area. Secondary prevention programs are recognised as integral to the comprehensive care of patients with cardiovascular disease. Pulmonary rehabilitation is the single most important development in the management of advanced respiratory disease over the past decade. Patients with established chronic respiratory disorders optimise lung function in a combined rehabilitation and maximum medical management programme resulting in prolonged life expectancy and enhanced quality of life.
Heart Lung Centre Ltd consists of a combined Clinical Trials Centre; Cardiac and Pulmonary rehabilitation centre; Day Care, State of the art Imaging Centre; Diagnostic Hospital in Marylebone, the prime medical area of London.
